A Comedy Year in Review: 2017

105.   That's the number of Comedy Shows that Comedians NWA Produced this year.

From Open Mics to Showcases and Game Shows to Roast Battles, 105 times in 2017, we got to flip on the lights, get on stage and do what we enjoy more than anything else, bring laughs to our fans.

2017 was a truly special year for Comedians NWA.  It saw the transition to our new format of a rotating Thursday Night Open Mic between Nomad's and Stage 18 that has reached many new fans, as well as several talented new comedians.  The Southtown Comedy Show at Nomad's continued it's reign as the longest running Comedy Show in NWA, bringing in some of the best comedians from places like NYC, Chicago, Memphis, Lincoln, Indianapolis, Austin and Los Angeles.

A new show called the Stand-Up/Stay-Up Comedy Show debuted at Black Apple Crossing in Springdale and drew huge crowds every month, which makes the news of the upcoming new Showroom with more seating at Black Apple Crossing very exciting!  Comedians NWA members also started or participated in many great shows across the area in 2017, including several shows at Bentonville Butcher and Pint, Backspace, The Syc House, Ozark Beer and many other great venues!

This year also saw Comedians NWA change things up with some new shows that step out of the Stand-Up realm.  The NWA Roast Battle League is an exciting new show that pits Comedians NWA members against each other in a no-holds-barred insult fest that has been a crowd favorite as every show has been a sell out.  The Roast Battle League consists of a leaderboard that Roasters can move up as they accumulate points from Battle Wins.  A Championship Roast Battle League Show featuring the Top Roasters will take place in 2018!

Another new show called Dunced! A Live Trivial Comedy was introduced in late 2017 by Comedians NWA Co-Founder Troy Gittings.  Dunced! is a trivia competition where audience members compete against comedians in a battle of wits that has a lot of laughs a long the way.

Overall, 2017 was an amazing year for Comedians NWA.  Having the opportunity to do 105 shows introduced us to so many new fans and friends a long the way and gave all of our members the opportunity to truly work on our craft.  Sure, there are a lot of comedy scenes around the nation in much bigger markets that have many more shows, but we wouldn't trade what we have right here in NWA for anything.

So to all the fans who came out and laughed this year, who bought drinks and supported our great venues, who stuck around after the show to shake our hands and give us hugs and to all those who showed touring comics coming through just how special our little neck of the woods are, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

We have one more show this year and it's arguably our favorite each year.  We are once again a featured act at Last Night Fayetteville as we will put on two shows on the Comedy Stage that we will be sharing with our Improv friends over at Roughhouse Comedy Collective.  We hope you all can drop by the Comedy Stage and help us put a cap on this great year for Comedians NWA.

As far as what lies ahead in 2018 and beyond, well all we can say is we have big plans.... We'll see you then.

You have so many great shows and comedians. I’ve had a blast! I really enjoy getting to know the comics better on that podcast Trash Blood. So fun!
